Trust & Safety

Community Standards

LookAtPets is committed to creating one of America's safest and most trusted animal communities. These standards apply to every listing, message, seller page, and interaction on the platform.

What we expect

  • • Treat every member with respect — buyers, sellers, breeders, rescues, vendors, and staff.
  • • Be honest about animals, their history, health, and care needs.
  • • Follow all federal, state, and local laws governing animal sale, adoption, and transport.
  • • Keep transactions on LookAtPets so trust signals and dispute support stay intact.
  • • Prioritize animal welfare above every other consideration.

What is prohibited

The following behavior is never allowed on LookAtPets and may result in warnings, messaging restrictions, removal of content, or permanent suspension:

Hate speech, harassment, bullying, or threats

Animal abuse, cruelty, or fighting

Wildlife trafficking or sale of prohibited species

Fraud, scams, identity theft, or impersonation

Blackmail or extortion

Sexual exploitation or any content involving minors

Human trafficking

Terrorist, extremist, or violent content

Money laundering or counterfeit documentation

Spam, malware, or phishing attempts

Sale of illegal products or services

Pressure to move transactions off-platform into unsafe channels

Reporting & review

Any member can report a conversation, message, listing, or seller page from the three-dot menu on that surface. Reports go to a private moderator queue. Moderator decisions follow a documented playbook — warnings, temporary messaging restrictions, content removal, escalation, or suspension — and every action is logged. Automated safety signals are used to flag content for human review, never to ban members automatically.

Privacy

Private conversations stay private. Only the people in a conversation can read it. When a conversation is reported, authorized moderators may access it strictly to investigate the report, and every access is recorded in an audit log.
